Kelly Slater Will Not Compete at Fiji Pro
Kelly Slater will not be competing as a wildcard in the upcoming Fiji Pro, following his impressive performance at the Tahiti Pro. The World Surf League (WSL) has released the heat draw for the event, and Slater's name is not included.
The WSL has awarded the men's wildcard to junior champion Jarvis Earle, who is set to make his second Championship Tour appearance after competing at Margaret River earlier this year. Additionally, local trials winner Teo Degei has also received a wildcard.
It remains unclear if the WSL offered Slater a wildcard spot. The league has not responded to inquiries regarding this matter. Slater, who co-founded Outerknown, had the option to enter the Tahiti Pro, which was sponsored by his brand, similar to his participation in the Trestles event last year. However, this year's Fiji Pro does not have a title sponsor at that level, meaning Slater's absence is confirmed unless there are last-minute changes.
