Kerala Table Tennis Association Faces Allegations from Players
The Kerala Table Tennis Association (KTTA) is under scrutiny following allegations of victimization from 41 players, including several State champions, who signed a protest letter regarding the recent PAX Academy State-ranking tournament in Kollam.
The players expressed dissatisfaction with last-minute changes to tournament fixtures that conflicted with the original draw on the KTTA's official platform, Zeetius. This alteration led to top-ranked players facing each other in early rounds, particularly affecting those who had previously participated in tournaments organized by the Table Tennis Association of Kerala (TTAK) before KTTA resumed governance.
In their protest, players raised concerns about the use of tables not approved by the Table Tennis Federation of India and called for transparency in prize money distribution. They also claimed that KTTA loyalists received preferential draws. In response, KTTA denied any manipulation of the tournament draw and clarified that the prize money distribution was in line with their policies. The association attributed the confusion to registration issues among clubs and stated that rankings were based on participation in TTAK events. Players are considering escalating their complaints to the Sports Minister and relevant authorities.
