Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks Moves to 10-Day Injured List
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is set to be moved to the 10-day injured list from the restricted list, following his absence from a game in Boston three days prior.
General manager Mike Hazen confirmed the decision on Thursday, stating that Marte will return once he has recovered. The three-time all-star had traveled back to Phoenix for evaluations on his left knee earlier in the week. Manager Torey Lovullo noted challenges in obtaining information from Marte during this period.
Marte's injury comes at a critical moment for the Diamondbacks, who are competing for a playoff spot for the first time since their World Series appearance in 2023. Currently, the team holds a 67-61 record, trailing the San Diego Padres by one game for the final National League wild-card position. This season, Marte has recorded a batting average of .249, with 21 home runs and 67 RBIs.
