Ketlen Vieira Suspended for Six Months After Doping Test Failure
Ketlen Vieira, a former UFC fighter, has been suspended for six months due to a failed doping test after her match against Cris Cyborg at PFL Tampa. The Brazilian missed the featherweight championship limit before the fight and subsequently tested positive for a banned substance.
The suspension was confirmed by Mike Mazzulli, director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, who noted that both Vieira's A and B samples indicated the presence of a prohibited steroid. Vieira attributed the positive test to medication taken for a knee injury sustained after her UFC release.
Despite her clean record during her UFC tenure, where she was tested multiple times without incident, Vieira's situation has drawn attention. Cris Cyborg, her last opponent, expressed gratitude for the PFL's anti-doping measures and reflected on her own past doping issues, emphasizing the importance of strict testing in maintaining the sport's integrity.
