Kevin Knight Reflects on His AEW Journey Compared to NJPW
Kevin Knight, the current TNT Champion, joined AEW in March 2025 after nearly five years with New Japan Pro Wrestling. In a recent interview, he shared insights on the differences in opportunities between the two promotions.
Knight noted that New Japan has a structured system for developing talent, which can delay the transition to superstardom. In contrast, he described AEW as a place where talent can quickly rise if they stand out and connect with fans. He emphasized that he has achieved more in his first year with AEW than in his entire tenure at New Japan.
Looking ahead, Knight is set to defend his TNT Championship against Darby Allin in a Falls Count Anywhere match at AEW All In on August 30 in London. He won the title in a Casino Gauntlet match on April 12, 2026, and has successfully defended it 12 times, including a recent match against Chris Jericho.
