Kevin Owens Returns to WWE, Secures Title Contendership
Kevin Owens made a surprise comeback to WWE, emerging victorious against Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, and Gunther to claim the number one contender spot for the WWE Championship during SummerSlam Sunday.
Initially, Zayn was set to compete in a singles match against Balor. However, Nick Aldis, reinstated as the General Manager of WWE SmackDown, announced the addition of Gunther to the match. The excitement grew when Owens was revealed as the fourth participant, leading to a dramatic showdown.
Owens quickly took control, clearing the ring of Gunther and Balor before engaging in a striking exchange with Zayn. After executing a senton from the top rope onto his opponents outside the ring, Owens attempted a Swanton bomb on Gunther but faced setbacks. Despite a brief injury scare, Owens rallied back, delivering stunners to both Gunther and Balor, ultimately pinning Zayn for the win.
