Khamzat Chimaev Seeks Quick UFC Return with Four Opponent Options
Khamzat Chimaev is looking to make a swift return to the UFC following his first professional loss nearly four months ago, where he lost the middleweight championship to Sean Strickland. Chimaev, who holds a record of 15-1 in MMA and 9-1 in UFC, expressed his desire for another fight and named four potential opponents on social media: Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis, Nassourdine Imavov, and Caio Borralho.
Chimaev's defeat at UFC 328 in May marked a significant moment in his career, as he had previously dominated his opponents and held the middleweight title. Instead of solely waiting for a rematch with Strickland, he is open to competing against other top contenders to work his way back into title contention. Before returning to the UFC, Chimaev is scheduled to face former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in a wrestling match on September 5 in Moscow.
A rematch with Strickland would be pivotal for Chimaev, as Strickland is planning his first title defense for December. Chimaev also mentioned Du Plessis, whom he has previously defeated, while Imavov and Borralho present new challenges. Imavov is currently vying for a title shot, which could complicate Chimaev's plans for an immediate rematch.
