Kimi Antonelli Leads Dutch GP Practice as Red Bull Faces Challenges
Kimi Antonelli topped the practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, marking a strong return for the F1 championship leader after the summer break.
Antonelli clocked a lap time of 1m12.949s, making him the only driver to break the 1m13s barrier. Lando Norris from McLaren followed closely in second with a time of 1m13.070s. The session began on a damp track, prompting drivers to initially use intermediate tires before conditions improved.
As the session progressed, drivers switched to slick tires, leading to rapidly decreasing lap times. Antonelli's teammate George Russell finished third, while Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc rounded out the top five. Red Bull faced difficulties, with Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson finishing 11th and 14th, respectively, due to performance issues.
