Kimi Antonelli Leads Practice Session at Dutch Grand Prix
Kimi Antonelli emerged as the fastest driver in the sole practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix, held at Zandvoort, narrowly surpassing Lando Norris as Formula 1 returned from its summer break.
Antonelli clocked a lap time of 1m12.949s in the final minutes, becoming the only driver to break the 1m13s barrier. Norris finished second, just 0.121 seconds behind, while George Russell was third, trailing by an additional four-thousandths of a second.
The session began on a damp track with drivers using intermediate tyres, but conditions improved quickly. Oscar Piastri initially led with a time of 1m23.311s before switching to soft tyres and improving significantly. As the session progressed, Antonelli and Norris took the lead in the final minutes, with Mercedes placing both cars in the top three. Max Verstappen faced difficulties, finishing 11th, while Liam Lawson, replacing an injured Isack Hadjar, ended up 14th.
