Kimi Antonelli Secures Pole Position for United States Grand Prix
Kimi Antonelli will lead the field at the United States Grand Prix, taking place at the Circuit of The Americas, after posting the fastest qualifying time of 1'34''035. This performance allowed him to narrowly surpass Max Verstappen, who qualified second with a time of 1'34''214, and Isack Hadjar, who secured third place at 1'34''250.
During the qualifying session, the Soft compound tyres were predominantly used, although Antonelli, Oscar Piastri, and George Russell initially experimented with the Medium compound before switching to the C4. Antonelli utilized four new sets of Soft tyres, while Verstappen and Hadjar each used three sets.
In the preceding free practice session, Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time at 1'34''893, followed by Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. The high temperatures in Austin, reaching 40C, are expected to slightly decrease during the race. Pirelli's analysis suggests that a one-stop strategy will likely be the most efficient for teams, with the Soft-Medium combination being a popular choice.
