Kimi Antonelli Sees Progress for Mercedes at United States GP
Kimi Antonelli, the current leader in the Formula 1 championship, expressed that Mercedes has made important advancements with its recent upgrades during practice for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
The team introduced a new front wing to enhance its upgrade package, which had initially improved the car's performance but also made it more challenging to optimize. Despite difficulties in achieving the right operating window, Antonelli's performance in the second practice session showed promise, as he was only 0.042 seconds behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
Mercedes' trackside engineering director noted that the team struggled in the first session but made adjustments that improved the car's predictability and lap times in the afternoon. While Antonelli has a theoretical chance to secure his first world championship this weekend, the team is focused on maximizing points rather than the championship scenario.
