Kimi Antonelli to Start Monza Race from Back of the Grid

Kimi Antonelli will start from the back of the grid at Monza after receiving a penalty for a new engine. This decision comes as he prepares for his home race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff indicated that the high-speed track is the optimal location for Antonelli to take on this penalty, as it allows for potential recovery of positions during the race. Antonelli will be using his fifth internal combustion engine of the season, while teammate George Russell is also expected to face a similar situation later in the season.

Despite the penalty, Antonelli remains optimistic about his chances at Monza, where he leads the championship by 59 points. He noted that even with the engine penalty, he believes Monza is the best venue for this adjustment, aiming for a strong performance and valuable points.
