Kimi Antonelli Wins U.S. GP but Title Chase Continues
Kimi Antonelli achieved a dominant victory at the U.S. Grand Prix held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, marking his ninth win of the season. Despite starting from pole position, Antonelli's championship aspirations are still pending as he requires specific outcomes from his teammates to secure the title.
Antonelli needed his Mercedes teammate George Russell to finish ninth or lower and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton to place fifth or lower for a title clinch. However, Hamilton finished fourth and Russell eighth, delaying Antonelli's championship win. With five races remaining, he has multiple opportunities to secure the title, needing just two points in the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix.
During the race, Antonelli maintained a significant lead, finishing 13.078 seconds ahead of second-place Charles Leclerc and third-place Max Verstappen. Antonelli's performance has kept him 123 points ahead of Russell, making his path to the championship nearly certain unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
