Kinley Rasmus Ties Mo’ne Davis Strikeout Record at Little League World Series
Kinley Rasmus has emerged as a prominent figure in this year's Little League World Series, particularly during a critical game on Monday where her team faced elimination. Rasmus stepped in as a pitcher for Phenix City, Alabama, and played a key role in their 6-5 victory over West Chester, Pennsylvania.
In this match, Rasmus recorded six strikeouts over 4 2/3 scoreless innings, bringing her total to 14 strikeouts for the tournament. This achievement ties her with Mo’ne Davis for the most strikeouts by a girl in the history of the series. Rasmus, the daughter of former major leaguer Cory Rasmus, has made a significant impact since her debut, becoming the 25th girl to participate in the tournament and just the ninth female pitcher.
While Rasmus has been instrumental on the mound, she also contributes as a shortstop and offensive player. However, due to her pitching on Monday, she will not be available for the upcoming elimination game against Tacoma, Washington, unless her team advances, which would allow her to pitch again after the required rest period.
