Kirk Cousins Addresses Pressure Amid Raiders' Struggles
Kirk Cousins has stated that he does not want to be on the field if he is not the best option for the Las Vegas Raiders, amid growing pressure on head coach Klint Kubiak to consider rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza. This comes after the Raiders suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, falling to a 3-4 record following a 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Despite throwing two touchdown passes against the Rams, bringing his season total to 16, Cousins' mobility has raised concerns as the team struggles for consistency. He acknowledged Mendoza's progress and emphasized that winning should take precedence over his position.
Cousins' 16 passing touchdowns tie the Raiders' franchise record for the most by a quarterback in their first seven games, matching the records of Daryle Lamonica and Jeff George. However, Kubiak has not dismissed the possibility of a quarterback change, leaving Cousins under increasing pressure as the Raiders prepare for their next game against the New York Jets.
