Kirk Cousins Signs with Raiders After Falcons Release

Kirk Cousins, a quarterback who was released by the Atlanta Falcons this offseason, has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming one of the top free agents available.

After his release, Cousins aimed to reconnect with one of his former coaches, either Klint Kubiak of the Raiders or Kevin O’Connell of the Vikings. A league source indicated that Cousins found limited appealing options, dismissing potential moves to the Falcons, Steelers, and Browns. The 49ers were mentioned as a possibility if they were willing to trade Mac Jones, but that did not materialize. Ultimately, the Raiders presented the best opportunity for Cousins, allowing him to play, mentor a rookie, and reunite with Kubiak.

Cousins, who is 37 years old, previously had a successful career, including a notable contract with the Vikings. In 2025, he played in 10 games for the Falcons, achieving a completion rate of 61.7% with 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
