Kirk Herbstreit Addresses Political Action Committee Event Amid Criticism

Kirk Herbstreit recently participated as the keynote speaker at a Business Council of Alabama event aimed at raising funds for its political action committee, Progress PAC. The event took place on October 21, just before he was scheduled to commentate on the Patriots-Bears game in Chicago.

Herbstreit, who has stated he does not engage in politics, faced scrutiny for his association with ESPN's support for the Protect College Sports Act. He emphasized his independent stance, expressing a focus on football, family, faith, and the country rather than political affiliations.

The Business Council of Alabama has endorsed a significant number of Republican candidates, with 82 out of 108 endorsements going to Republicans. Following the event, the council contributed $155,000 to Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville's campaign.
