
Kirkwood Claims Victory at 2026 IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix
Kyle Kirkwood triumphed at the 2026 IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix held on the streets of Washington D.C. on Sunday, leading an impressive 128 out of 147 laps.
The Andretti Global driver finished the race with a margin of victory exceeding three seconds over Christian Lundgaard from Arrow McLaren, while his teammate Will Power secured third place. At one point, Kirkwood had a lead of over 15 seconds.
Alex Palou, who started on pole and was leading the championship, faced challenges throughout the race, ultimately finishing in 20th place after incurring a drive-through penalty and experiencing a mid-race incident. In total, 13 out of 25 starters completed the race on the lead lap, with five drivers not finishing.
