Cousins is believed to have secured the starting position, particularly after Mendoza's underwhelming performances in the preseason.

Mendoza's recent games included a completion of 8-of-15 passes for 86 yards and an interception against the Houston Texans, followed by 7-of-14 for 57 yards and another interception against the 49ers. Kubiak noted that discussions regarding the depth chart are ongoing, with Mendoza potentially starting the season as the third-string quarterback.
