Knicks to Raise Championship Banner as Sixers Aim for Title
The New York Knicks will celebrate their first NBA championship in 53 years by raising their banner at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, prior to their season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers.
This season marks the Knicks' title defense after finishing third in the Eastern Conference last year with a 53-29 record. They defeated the 76ers in the conference semifinals after a strong postseason run, which included a historic 29-point comeback in the Finals.
The 76ers, looking to dethrone the Knicks, have made significant roster changes, including the addition of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown. James signed a two-year deal with Philadelphia, while Brown was acquired in a trade with the Celtics. The 76ers aim to advance beyond the conference finals for the first time since 2001.
