Knowsley Council Seeks to Secure Future of Prescot Cables FC
Knowsley Council is working to secure the future of Prescot Cables FC, a historic non-league football club, which has been based at Valerie Park since 2018. The council leader, Graham Morgan, stated that the local authority does not currently have the funds needed to replace the main stand, which is nearing the end of its life.
The estimated cost for a new stand is around £2 million, a sum that the council cannot afford at this time. The council had previously purchased Valerie Park for £300,000 and granted the club a 99-year lease. Concerns have been raised by fans about the possibility of the club having to relocate due to the deteriorating condition of the stand.
In response to these concerns, Morgan emphasized the importance of the club to the local community and expressed a desire to work closely with the club's board. The council has previously provided a loan to help with ground improvements, but the future remains uncertain as discussions about potential relocation options continue.
