Kurt Suzuki Steps Down as Angels Manager After Historic Losses
Kurt Suzuki will not continue as the manager of the Los Angeles Angels, as announced by the team on Wednesday. His tenure included a record-setting 100 losses during the 2026 season, the first time the franchise has reached that mark.
Despite having a club option for 2027, Suzuki has been offered a position as a special assistant within the organization. Interim General Manager John Mozeliak expressed respect for Suzuki's contributions and noted that the team's poor record did not reflect his managerial abilities. Suzuki, who previously served as a special assistant to the former GM, had no prior coaching experience before taking on the managerial role.
The Angels have struggled in recent years, having not reached the postseason since 2014 and experiencing five managerial changes in six seasons. The team is currently seeking a new manager, with Mozeliak potentially taking over baseball operations permanently.
