Kush Burman Uses Race Across the World Victory to Support Suicide Awareness
Kush Burman, who gained recognition as the winner of BBC's Race Across the World, is leveraging his platform to assist those affected by suicide. His stepfather, Matt, died by suicide during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, an event that deeply impacted Burman when he was just 14 years old.
In his new role as an ambassador for Alfie's Squad, a charity based in Liverpool that supports children and young people dealing with similar issues, Burman is participating in the Race for a Reason event. This initiative, now in its second year, aims to raise funds and awareness for the charity as teams navigate various checkpoints across the UK over three days.
Burman expressed gratitude for the support he and his family received from Alfie's Squad, which was founded by a young boy named Alfie after he lost his father to suicide. The charity fosters a sense of community and provides weekly support groups in Liverpool. Burman hopes that the Race for a Reason will enable the charity to assist more families facing similar challenges.
