Ky Bush Shut Down for the Season Due to Lat Strain

The Chicago White Sox have announced that left-handed pitcher Ky Bush has been shut down for the remainder of the season due to a lat strain. He is currently on the 60-day injured list and will remain there until the end of the season.

This injury adds to a challenging period for Bush, who has now missed two full seasons. He underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2025 and spent the entirety of the previous season in recovery. Although he began throwing this summer, the lat strain has ruled out any chance of him participating in official games this year.

Once a promising prospect, Bush was drafted by the Angels in the second round of the 2021 draft and was traded to the White Sox in 2023. He made his major league debut in 2024 but struggled with a 5.60 earned run average over 17 2/3 innings. Despite his challenges, he performed better in the minors, posting a 3.30 ERA in 106 1/3 innings. The White Sox may consider a shift in his role to reliever next season to manage his workload, as he still has two option seasons remaining.
