Kyle Larson Reflects on Strategic Gamble at Darlington

Kyle Larson made a strategic decision during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington, opting to stay on the track with 24 laps remaining while most competitors pitted for fresh tires. This choice temporarily placed him in the lead.

Despite his efforts to maintain his position, Larson was overtaken by Christopher Bell with 12 laps to go. After the race, Larson expressed no regrets about his decision, emphasizing that he believed staying out could have provided him with more tire management opportunities. Ultimately, he finished in fifth place, which he considered a positive outcome for the start of the Chase.

Larson noted that while he gained six points in the Chase standings, it was preferable to not losing points. He will have another opportunity to improve his position next weekend as the series moves to Illinois.
