Kyle Larson Secures Knoxville Nationals Pole but Likely Misses Main Event

Kyle Larson achieved victory in the preliminary night of the Knoxville Nationals, securing the pole position for the 65th edition of the event. However, he is anticipated to miss the main race, which conflicts with the NASCAR Cup Series event in Richmond on Saturday.

Despite being a three-time winner of this prestigious Sprint Car race, Larson had been aware of the scheduling conflict for a year. He expressed no disappointment about the situation, stating that he came to win the preliminary night and succeeded. His crew member, Trevor Canales, is set to take over the car for the main event, which Larson views as an opportunity for Canales.

Larson's win on Thursday earned him $12,000, and starting in the feature guarantees an additional $15,000 for the team. He emphasized that his role is strictly as a driver for car owner Paul Silva, and he is focused on the NASCAR race in Richmond, although he remains open to returning to Knoxville if circumstances allow.
