Kyle Shanahan Discusses Mike Evans' Injury Concerns
Mike Evans, a veteran receiver, missed nine games last season due to injuries. Recently, Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, spoke about the expectations for Evans as he enters his 13th season.
Shanahan noted that Evans' performance hinges on his health, mentioning that injuries, particularly hamstring issues, have affected him in the past. He emphasized the importance of managing player fatigue, stating that while Evans will be a starting receiver, the team aims to rotate players to maintain their speed and effectiveness. Currently, Evans is dealing with a quad issue but is expected to return to practice soon.
Despite his injury struggles, Evans has maintained a record of 11 consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards until last year. The 49ers are counting on him to be a key player this season, especially as he is considered their top option at the receiver position.
