Kyle Shanahan Receives Contract Extension with 49ers
Kyle Shanahan, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers since 2017, has reportedly signed a contract extension with the team following their 27-7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the season opener.
While the specific terms of the new deal have not been disclosed, Shanahan was already under contract through at least 2027. His tenure has seen the 49ers reach the playoffs five times, including two Super Bowl appearances and two NFC Championship Games, despite also missing the playoffs four times.
Shanahan is close to surpassing Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh for the most games coached in franchise history and is 15 wins away from matching George Seifert for the most wins. The 49ers' management appears confident in Shanahan's ability to lead the team back to the Super Bowl and secure a championship.
