Kyle Shanahan Set to Coach 49ers' Pre-Season Opener After Recovery from Car Crash
Kyle Shanahan, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, announced that he is almost fully recovered from injuries sustained in a car crash and is prepared to coach the team's first exhibition game on Thursday night.
The incident occurred on July 14, resulting in a concussion, broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken hand, and over 40 stitches for a cut above his eye. Shanahan reported that he has only minor lingering symptoms from the concussion, including headaches and fatigue, but has been present at practice every day.
Shanahan expressed confidence in his coaching staff, which has allowed him to focus on essential tasks like reviewing game film. He took responsibility for the crash, which happened when he reached for his phone while driving. Although he was hospitalized, he did not receive a ticket for the incident.
