LA Clippers Fined $30 Million for Salary Cap Violations

In addition to the financial penalty, the team will forfeit five first-round draft picks from 2029 to 2033. Owner Steve Ballmer is suspended from all league and team activities for one year for allegedly assisting Leonard in securing off-court income opportunities. Leonard himself has been fined $700,000, while the team's president of business operations, Gillian Zucker, faces a one-year suspension without pay for providing misleading information during the investigation.
The NBA's investigation revealed a pattern of misconduct and significant violations by the Clippers, who have previously faced similar issues. Following the ruling, Leonard expressed his acceptance of responsibility and regret for the situation's impact on fans and family. He emphasized that he entered his contract with the Clippers in good faith, unaware of any intent to breach salary cap rules.
