Lakers Sign Lawson Lovering to Two-Way Contract, Release AK Okereke
The Los Angeles Lakers have finalized a two-way contract with center Lawson Lovering, as reported by Michael Scotto. To accommodate this signing, the team has waived AK Okereke.
Lawson Lovering, who stands at 7 feet tall, was previously with the Memphis Grizzlies but was released in late September after a training camp deal. Last season, he played for the Memphis Hustle in the G League, participating in 30 games and averaging 7.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He also made two appearances in the NBA with the Grizzlies on a 10-day contract in February.
AK Okereke, the player waived by the Lakers, had signed a two-way contract in July after going undrafted. He did not have an opportunity to play in the NBA before his release. Okereke played one season at Vanderbilt, contributing an average of 9.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over 36 games.
