Lakers Sign Rafael Castro and Waive William Kyle III
The Los Angeles Lakers announced on Friday the signing of Rafael Castro to an Exhibit 10 contract, following the waiver of William Kyle III.
Castro, a former two-way player with the Houston Rockets, was waived by the team eight days prior. The 23-year-old center had previously transferred to George Washington, where he became a standout player, averaging 15.3 points and 9.1 rebounds in his senior season.
William Kyle III had been with the Lakers since signing an Exhibit 10 contract on September 27, after averaging 8.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in his previous season with Syracuse. An Exhibit 10 contract allows players to earn a bonus if waived before the season while spending time with the G League affiliate.
