Lamine Yamal Secures Third Kopa Trophy, Honors Pau Cubarsí
Lamine Yamal was awarded the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or gala on Monday, achieving this honor for the third year in a row as the top player under 21.
The 19-year-old forward scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists, leading Barcelona to a second consecutive La Liga title, where he was also named player of the season. In the Champions League, he contributed six goals as Barcelona advanced to the quarterfinals.
Despite facing a hamstring injury in April that raised doubts about his World Cup participation, Yamal made the final squad and scored once during the tournament. He played a crucial role in Spain's victory over France in the semifinals and helped secure the title against Argentina. Yamal dedicated his Kopa Trophy win to Pau Cubarsí, his teammate who was the runner-up for the award.
