Lance Stroll has set an unwanted record in Formula 1 by becoming the first driver to achieve 100 Q1 eliminations since the introduction of the three-part qualifying system in 2006. This milestone was reached when he qualified last for the Italian Grand Prix, finishing just under a tenth behind his teammate Fernando Alonso.

The Aston Martin team faced challenges during the weekend, despite recent upgrades, as they struggled with overall power. The AMR26 was notably slower, consistently lagging 20km/h behind Mercedes cars, which contributed to a significant 2.6-second gap to Pierre Gasly's Alpine during Q1.

Stroll expressed a lack of surprise regarding the team's performance, indicating that they were not competitive and would likely remain far from the pack in the race. His career began with a Q1 elimination at his first F1 race in 2017, and while he has had moments of success, recent seasons have seen him frequently battling to avoid early exits in qualifying.
