Lando Norris Apologizes for Collision with Oscar Piastri at Singapore Grand Prix
Lando Norris has admitted to letting down his McLaren team following a collision with teammate Oscar Piastri during the sprint race at the Singapore Grand Prix. The incident occurred on the final lap when Norris attempted to overtake Piastri, leading to contact that caused both cars to spin.
As a result of the clash, Norris fell from a potential fourth place to eighth, while Piastri was forced to retire from the race. McLaren's team principal, Andrea Stella, described the incident as unacceptable and indicated that discussions would take place to prevent future occurrences.
Despite the setback in the sprint, Norris managed to secure fourth place in the main race on Sunday. He expressed that while he was satisfied with the points earned, he recognized that he could have performed better, particularly in his battles with other drivers. However, he noted that McLaren's recent performance has not met expectations, as this marks their third consecutive race without a podium finish.
