Lando Norris Calls for Change to VSC Rules After Disappointing Race

Lando Norris has voiced his dissatisfaction with the Virtual Safety Car (VSC) rules after finishing third in a recent race, where he felt he was unfairly disadvantaged. Despite a strong start and leading the race, his chances of victory diminished when the VSC was deployed just as he passed the pit lane entrance.

During the VSC, competitors like Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen took advantage of the situation to pit, while Norris had to continue racing for another lap. By the time he pitted, he rejoined the race in fifth place, nearly five seconds behind George Russell. Norris later remarked that he was the only driver who did not benefit from the VSC, losing approximately 20 seconds in the process.

Team principal Zak Brown acknowledged Norris's dominant performance and the unfortunate timing of the VSC, while Andrea Stella, the team's technical director, noted that they would review their strategy regarding the pit stop. Norris emphasized that the rules should not dictate the outcome of a race, advocating for a more equitable approach to VSC deployments.
