Lando Norris Challenges Mercedes' Claims on F1 Car Performance
Lando Norris has expressed disagreement with Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, who claimed that McLaren now has the top car in Formula 1. Norris believes his recent victories are primarily due to his driving abilities.
Norris secured wins at the last two Grands Prix in Budapest and Zandvoort, benefiting from significant upgrades to the MCL40, which had previously struggled in the season's early races. While Mercedes dominated the initial rounds, winning six consecutive races, their performance has declined as both Ferrari and McLaren improved their vehicles.
Antonelli, the championship leader, acknowledged McLaren's superiority after finishing second in Zandvoort, a sentiment echoed by Russell, who placed third. In response, Norris suggested that the Mercedes drivers were reluctant to admit their current standing. He emphasized his own performance, stating that his driving has been a crucial factor in McLaren's competitiveness, particularly in high-speed corners.
