Lando Norris Supports Max Verstappen's Critique of COTA Bumps
Lando Norris has expressed his agreement with Max Verstappen's criticism regarding the bumps at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). He noted that the severity of the bumps at some Formula 1 tracks leads him to take headache tablets before driving.
Verstappen, after observing the World Endurance Championship race at COTA, humorously remarked on the need for a new spine due to the track's condition. Norris supported Verstappen's views, stating that the bumps do not meet current FIA regulations for new tracks, highlighting the difficulties drivers face.
The issue of COTA's surface has persisted since Formula 1 began racing there in 2012. Verstappen previously mentioned that the bumps were not suitable for F1, prompting circuit chairman Bobby Epstein to promise improvements. In 2024, the track was resurfaced, and additional work has been conducted to address problem areas.
