Lando Norris's 2026 Title Prospects Tested at Monza, According to James Hinchcliffe
James Hinchcliffe has stated that McLaren's performance during the upcoming Italian Grand Prix at Monza will be pivotal in determining Lando Norris's ability to contend for the 2026 Formula 1 championship.
Norris heads to Monza following victories at the Hungarian and Dutch Grands Prix, which have reduced his championship deficit to 83 points. Despite this positive momentum, Hinchcliffe noted that McLaren's recent successes have occurred on high-downforce circuits, making Monza a critical test for the team.
Former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer echoed Hinchcliffe's sentiments, highlighting Norris's impressive driving this season, while also pointing out the challenges he faces at Monza. Currently, Norris ranks fourth in the drivers' championship with 159 points, trailing behind Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli, who leads with 242 points. The Italian Grand Prix is scheduled for September 4-6.
