Lane Johnson Optimistic About Saquon Barkley's Role in New Offense
The Philadelphia Eagles are adapting to a new offensive strategy this offseason, and right tackle Lane Johnson is confident it will enhance the performance of running back Saquon Barkley.
During a recent joint practice with the New England Patriots, offensive coordinator Sean Mannion had the opportunity to implement plays for the starting offense, showcasing how Barkley will be utilized, including as a receiver. Johnson expressed that this approach could help Barkley regain the production that earned him the league's offensive player of the year title in 2024.
Johnson noted that improved productivity in the run game would create opportunities for Barkley to make significant plays, including lining up as a wide receiver and participating in screen plays. The health of Johnson and the offensive line will also be crucial for Barkley to replicate his previous success, which included 2,283 yards from scrimmage and a Super Bowl victory in 2024.
