LSU Tigers' new head coach Lane Kiffin addressed the media regarding the high expectations for freshman defensive lineman Lamar Brown during the initial days of fall camp.

Kiffin highlighted Brown's impressive physical attributes, noting his height, weight, and speed as exceptional. Brown, a local talent from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was a significant recruiting success for LSU, ranked as the top athlete in the 2026 class and the third overall recruit by 247Sports Composite. He has the versatility to play both offensive and defensive line, although LSU has recruited him primarily as a defensive lineman.

At 6-foot-5 and nearly 300 pounds, Brown had an outstanding high school career, recording 29 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. Despite his potential, Kiffin cautioned fans to temper their expectations, noting that many freshmen do not achieve immediate success due to the competitive nature of college football and the presence of experienced players from the transfer portal.
