Larry Fitzgerald to be Honored with Jersey Retirement by Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are set to honor Larry Fitzgerald by retiring his No. 11 jersey and inducting him into their Ring of Honor during halftime of their game against the Denver Broncos, scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET at State Farm Stadium.
This ceremony serves as a farewell for fans who did not have the chance to see Fitzgerald leave the game, as he did not formally announce his retirement after the 2020 season, which was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He becomes the 20th member of the Ring of Honor and the first addition since Carson Palmer in 2019.
Fitzgerald's jersey retirement comes despite his reluctance to accept the term 'retired' for himself. He previously expressed his views on this during his Hall of Fame enshrinement in August. The ceremony was planned around his son Devin's schedule, who plays for Notre Dame, allowing all three of Fitzgerald's sons to attend the event.
