Laurie Canter Takes Early Lead at LIV Golf Indianapolis
Laurie Canter has taken the early lead at LIV Golf Indianapolis, shooting an 8-under-par 62 on Thursday at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana. This performance comes a day after LIV Golf's CEO addressed concerns regarding the league's financial future.
Canter is currently one stroke ahead of Australian Cam Smith and Canadian Richard T. Lee. A group of players, including Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson, are tied at 6-under 64, while Bryson DeChambeau stands at 5-under 65.
Canter, who previously had the opportunity to join the PGA Tour, opted to remain with LIV Golf, which is now navigating its future without support from the Saudi Public Investment Fund. He noted positive changes within the league and emphasized the importance of teamwork. The event in Indianapolis serves as both the regular-season finale and the team championship, with Canter's team, Majesticks GC, leading the standings after the first day.
