Lebanon Rugby League Team Supports Mohamed Alameddine Amid Safety Concerns
Mohamed Alameddine has been selected to represent Lebanon in the Rugby League World Cup despite being sidelined by the Parramatta Eels due to safety concerns related to his family's criminal ties.
Alameddine's selection comes after he was unable to participate in any matches this year, following an assassination attempt on his father linked to the Alameddine crime family. The Lebanese team has chosen to support him, breaking away from the stance of his NRL club.
While Alameddine remains a popular figure among his teammates, his future with Parramatta is uncertain, as the club has not offered him a contract extension beyond next year. Concerns for his safety persist, and he has been listed among the reserves for Lebanon's final World Cup game.
