LeBron James Starts at Center for Sixers Amid Injuries
LeBron James unexpectedly started at center for the Philadelphia Sixers during a recent game against Detroit, a role he had not anticipated taking on. This change was necessitated by a series of injuries affecting key players, including Joel Embiid, who was sidelined for plantar fasciitis management.
With the team facing a back-to-back schedule, other players like Jabari Walker, Dominick Barlow, and Tacko Fall were also unavailable due to various injuries, leaving the Sixers with limited options. Coach Nick Nurse noted that only a few players were available to fill the center position.
This marked James' first start at center in five years, with his previous starts occurring during the 2021/22 season with the Lakers. While he has played in the center position occasionally this season, James expressed that he does not foresee a long-term role there, emphasizing the presence of Embiid on the team.
