Leeds United Signs James Trafford in Record £40m Deal from Manchester City

Leeds United has officially signed goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City in a deal valued at an initial £40 million, which is a record for the club.

The five-year contract for the 23-year-old England international includes potential add-ons and surpasses Leeds' previous record of £35.5 million for Georginio Rutter in January 2023. Trafford, who played 17 matches for Manchester City last season, achieved eight clean sheets.

Leeds has prioritized finding a new first-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Karl Darlow and a lackluster season for Lucas Perri. With Trafford's arrival, the club's spending this transfer window exceeds £70 million, and Perri is expected to be loaned to Torino with an option to buy.
