Leeds United Signs James Trafford in Record Transfer from Manchester City

Leeds United has completed the signing of goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City in a deal valued at an initial £40 million, which sets a new club record. Trafford, 23, has signed a five-year contract with the club.

Last season, Trafford made 17 appearances for Manchester City, achieving eight clean sheets. This transfer surpasses Leeds' previous record of £35.5 million paid for Georginio Rutter in January 2023.

Leeds has been actively seeking a new first-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Karl Darlow and the inconsistent performance of Lucas Perri. With Trafford's arrival, it is anticipated that Perri may be loaned to Torino with an option to buy.
