Leonardo Fornaroli Joins McLaren Hypercar Team for WEC

McLaren Racing has confirmed that Leonardo Fornaroli, the current F2 champion and reserve driver for McLaren F1, will join the McLaren Hypercar Team for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2027.

Fornaroli, who has achieved back-to-back titles in FIA Formula 3 and Formula 2, will make his debut in the WEC driving the McLaren MCL-HY. He will be part of a driver lineup that includes Mikkel Jensen, Alex Lynn, and Laurens Vanthoor, the 2024 WEC Drivers' Champion, while continuing his role as McLaren's F1 reserve driver.

Team Principal James Barclay praised Fornaroli's talent and achievements in junior categories, highlighting his speed and maturity. Fornaroli expressed gratitude for the opportunity and excitement about representing McLaren in the prestigious WEC and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
