Letsile Tebogo Returns to Budapest for Ultimate Championships
Letsile Tebogo, the Olympic 200m champion from Botswana, is set to compete in the Ultimate Championships in Budapest next week. This city holds special significance for him as it is where he won two medals at the 2023 World Championships, a moment shared with his late mother, Seratiwa.
Seratiwa, who passed away in May 2024, was a significant presence in Tebogo's life, having traveled to Budapest three years ago to witness his historic achievements. Tebogo won silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m, marking a milestone for Botswana as the first male athlete from the country to earn World Championship medals.
As he returns to Budapest, Tebogo feels a mix of emotions but draws strength from the memories of his mother. He will also participate in the Kids' Athletics Ultimate Challenge, sharing his experiences and lessons with young athletes. The Ultimate Championships, running from September 11-13, features a $10 million prize pool, the largest in track and field history.
