Lewis Hamilton Secures Pole Position at Mexico City Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton has achieved his first pole position for Ferrari and his first in over three years during the Mexico City Grand Prix qualifying session. He narrowly outpaced George Russell of Mercedes by just 0.009 seconds, securing the front row alongside him.
Kimi Antonelli, who is in contention for the world title, qualified fifth but will start fourth due to a penalty for Max Verstappen. For Antonelli to be denied the championship, Russell must win while Antonelli finishes lower than ninth, or Hamilton must win with Antonelli scoring no points.
This pole position marks Hamilton's first since the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix, bringing his career total to 105. He is now the oldest driver to secure a pole since Mario Andretti in 1982. Hamilton expressed his excitement about the achievement, reflecting on the challenges faced during the weekend.
